Create a temporary email account with Guerrilla Mail

Signing up for services and applications on the web often requires that you share your email address—but this can result in a whole lot of junk mail flowing into your inbox.

This week’s Monday Productivity Pointers focuses on how you can create a temporary email address to use when signing up for web apps and services. You can then receive the confirmation email at your temporary address, confirm your account, and keep your real inbox free of junk mail.

The first video above demonstrates a service called Guerrilla Mail, which gives you a disposable email address you can use for just these cases. The second (members-only) video this week focuses on another service that creates email addresses that last for only 10 minutes—just long enough to get the confirmation email and click on it. Neither of these services requires you to create an account, and you can start using them immediately. There are many similar services, and hopefully having the chance to see two of them in action will allow you to choose the right one for your needs.

Why didn’t I think of this! I get so much spam too and I could have easily created a temporary e-mail address. Thanks for the post :D
