Thank you to those of you who have left requests for an additional course on using Dreamweaver and WordPress together since we published our Dreamweaver CS5 and WordPress 3 course last May. There are several approaches we could take for a more advanced course and I’d like to know what you would prefer. If you have a specific suggestion, please leave them in the comments. Thank you!

I think I have watched all your recent dreamweaver/wordpress classes and the main thing that I see missing is that the instructors tell you how to follow a set of steps without telling you why. then, when I am trying to do the project on my own, I don’t know how do fill in the blanks for anything that is outside of the videos. Also, if someone is approaching a website with html/css/dreamweaver and trying to integrate WordPress, the php is confusing so it would be helpful if the instructor explained the reasoning behind the changes that are made rather than giving a particular set of steps that work only in the instance of the example.
I would like to see a tutorial on using flash in a joomla site to give in the modern look of many of the new dreamweaver/xhml/flash sites…. Maybe “Joomla – Advanced” Thank you. We’ve switched to designing websites in Joomla because giving the client control of the site upon completion is a big deal to our clients and it builds lifetime loyalty.
Side note: I think if Adobe doesn’t quickly integrate a CMS capability in their software like wordpress is, I think they may lose a lot of there users. I know Microsoft is doing the same.
How about covering jsp?
More WordPress within an existing site, SEO optimization, easy eCommerce options…
I’d like to learn how to make a very interactive WordPress blog that is seamlessly integrated into your website, so that the design is completely seamless across all pages including the blog page.
Using Dreamweaver with WordPress to manage and style your mobile site is something I’d like to see worked in as well.
I have had difficulty with php features in Dreamweaver and found very different instructions on different lynda.com videos about using wamp. I seem to be able to get it set up, but later can’t use it.
Thanks for the votes and the comments. It’s helpful to hear your thoughts.
I have not finished the wp and dw5 videos yet. Each one fills out the picture a bit more.
I would love to see a video (perhaps a partial series of some specific, more advanced applications of theme-ing for WP) on developing an html/dw site
* into a “thesis” themed wp site
* developing part of a site into wp but rest in html
* integrating paypal and simply ecommerce
* safeguarding a wp or html site from hackers
* basic php code for wp developers more versed in design than code
Perhaps it’s here, but I’d also love to have transcripts or a cheat chart at the end of a serie’s section that I can copy/paste into my own notes if I choose … so I don’t have to go back and view the video again.
I would like to learn how to create different styles of slideshows that can be inserted into the WordPress twentyten theme. Something more advanced than just the gallery feature. I use google picassa and docs but they are hard to customize.
I would love to learn how to do a site that has CSS setup for desktop, tablet and mobile. Could be building it, or modifying a theme. Thank you for offering such great support for WordPress!
I would like to see an indepth tutorial on developing the new WordPress 3.0 Custom Post Types in Dreamweaver. Thank you.
I’d rather do a nice clean code from scratch.
not using Dreamweaver, at all.
There are enough video tutorials about ‘Dreamweaver and WordPress’ on lynda.com! I’d be more interested in HOW TO BUILD AN e-COMMERCE WEB SITE that would display equally well on smartphones, tablets and desktop computer displays.
Besides, I would imagine that very few WordPress bloggers use Dreamweaver to manage their blog. Seems like a bit of an overkill to me!
I’d love to see a series on understanding the PHP of WordPress.
It would be great to see something on Custom Post Types in real world scenarios. WordPress 3: Creating and Editing Custom Themes was great but did little outside of menus to show WP 3+ specific functionality and it had nothing to do with DreamWeaver. I think including the spry panel was good direction but a more in depth series on integrating popular jQuery plugins to manipulate data from WP would be awesome. I’ve searched far and wide and haven’t found anything besides a basic level or info that requires a master in computer science.
I concur with Mr. Diamond. Showing how to implement eCommerce into WordPress themes/templates would be much appreciated as I have a lot of clients asking for this feature.
I’d watch any of the above, particularly building a WP site in Dreamweaver from the ground up, but I’m especially interested in SECURITY – how to secure your WP site once it’s done (having gotten hacked by some little twit).
Also, how to add video, and override the limited MB’s allowed when uploading video.
I know this is off topic, but i’d like to see a e-commerce wordpress site
I would love to see a “ground up” website using dreamweaver and wordpress; creating the site and template through deployment. Apparently wordpress is pretty amazing, but so far I am really good at making a site for Widget Corp. No one else.
How to build a WordPress theme/plugins/widgets. If possible how to build a WordPress theme that takes selected plugins with it for multiple deployments with the same structure and features.
How to build a WordPress theme for deployment of eLearning.
I’m an instructional designer. I would like too know how to embed learning objects created with authorizing tools like captivate, articulate or camtasia … into a wordpress template.
I really appreciate the feedback. I’m taking note of your suggestions, both for a more advanced course on using Dreamweaver and WordPress together, and the other topics related to WordPress, including but not limited to, security, eCommerce, PHP, and customization. Your requests help us shape future courses.

How about Dreamweaver and Drupal 7?
Ditto on “How about Dreamweaver and Drupal 7?”
Also how about a course on SVG.
More advanced theme tutorials. I went through Chris Coyier’s…very good, but it did not cover everything I wanted to do.
